Tony is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. He obtained his BA from Brown University and his masters in professional counseling from the University of New Mexico.
Tony is passionate about working with people. He believes deeply we have innate wisdom and capacities to grow and to heal what needs healing, that we can meet our challenges and each of us evolve upon our unique life journey towards wholeness. Tony is experienced in working with depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, spiritual issues, relationship issues and addictions. He works with both individuals and couples.
Tony has been a practitioner of meditation and mindfulness for 37 years and is a senior dharma teacher of an international school of Zen. One of his professional interests is the incorporation of meditation and mindfulness in psychotherapy and as part of his work uses those practices with clients when appropriate to help them learn to manage their cognitive processes and gain greater awareness.
Tony is certified in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), a modality for helping clients work through trauma and difficult experiences at large.
Tony is the recipient of the 2014-2015 Mental Health Counselor of the Year Award from the New Mexico Mental Health Counseling Association.
He is a member of the American Counseling Association and the Association for Humanistic Counseling.
Tony is an outdoors enthusiast. He is an avid road and mountain cyclist and also loves to hike and explore new and familiar places of natural beauty. Originally from New York City, he has lived in Rhode Island, Hawaii and Europe. He has been living in New Mexico since 2006.
