Wallin & Luna Complete Preceptorship with Colorado-Based Reproductive Medicine and Fertility Center

Kristin and I had the unique and invaluable opportunity to complete a two-day preceptorship at Reproductive Medicine and Fertility Center (RMFC) with Dr. Paul Magarelli and his incredible team in August 2010. We learned so much about the care and treatment of individuals and couples using reproductive technologies to build their families.  It was, truly, a once in a lifetime experience.  We are so grateful for RMFC's willingness to educate us so we can provide more informed care for our clients.

We were able to see the treatment process, from intake to financial consultation and everything in between.  With permission from the patients, we sat in on medical consultations, financial consultations and some medical procedures such as ultrasounds and hysteroscopies. We observed daily "labs" wherein the doctor, nurses and medical assistants review each case and make individualized changes to the treatment protocol based on lab results and ultrasounds.  We also had a chance to meet with the team's embryologist who walked us through the their amazing facility and showed us all the intricacies of egg retrieval, ICSI and embryo transfer. By the end of two full days of training we were exhausted and impressed by the stamina of the RMFC team.

With this additional experience we have a greater understanding of what types of procedures our clients may experience if they turn to fertility treatment for help building their families. We also deepened our understanding of the medical components of care and feel this will only help us provide a higher quality of care for our clients. Likewise, it was clear to us that caring doctors are interested in incorporating emotional support and see us as a valuable resource for them in treating their patients.

As we move along in our practice we will continue to look for opportunities to stay up to date on emerging technologies and treatment options to maximize the benefits to the people who put their trust in us.
